Emily Cain Garrison Forest, field hockey

The junior goalkeeper posted two shutouts to bring her season total to 15, as the No. 3 Grizzlies defeated No. 8 Archbishop Spalding, 2-0, and No. 5 Bryn Mawr, 1-0. She had 11 saves for the week. Cain, who started playing field hockey in the first grade, has allowed only three goals all season and none to an Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland opponent, as the defending A Conference champion Grizzlies (14-1-1) sealed up the top seed for this season's tournament.

Cain, a Junior Olympian this past summer, was selected for the U.S. Field Hockey Association's Futures Elite program. She also has a 4.0 unweighted grade-point average and serves as junior class president.

Albadee Edwards Kenwood, football

The senior quarterback-defensive back was a major factor in leading the Bluebirds (4-3) to a 21-17 upset win over then-No. 11 Perry Hall on Friday.

In Kenwood's spread offense, Edwards accounted for 220 yards, running the ball 25 times for 120 yards and two touchdowns and also completing six of nine passes for 100 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, he finished with five tackles and had one interception as the Bluebirds beat their Baltimore County rival for the first time since 2002.

This season, Edwards has 1,105 total yards in his first year at quarterback, rushing for 668 and throwing for 437. In his second season starting on defense, he has four interceptions and 100 return yards.
