Kordell Young rushed for 79 yards and a touchdown and Connecticut kicker Tony Ciaravino's 42-yard field-goal attempt hit the right upright with 1:09 remaining as Rutgers escaped with a 12-10 win yesterday in Piscataway, N.J.

UConn (5-2, 1-1 Big East) dropped its second straight after Ciaravino missed three field goals. The win was the first for Rutgers (2-5, 1-2) against a Bowl Subdivision opponent this year.

Iowa 38, Wisconsin 16: : Shonn Greene rushed for a career-high 217 yards and four touchdowns and the Hawkeyes (5-3, 2-2 Big Ten) pounded the reeling Badgers (3-4, 0-4).

Northwestern 48, Purdue 26: : C.J. Bacher threw three touchdown passes and ran for a fourth touchdown to help the Wildcats (6-1, 2-1 Big Ten) defeat the Boilermakers (2-5, 0-3).

Illinois 55, Indiana 13: : Jason Ford, a true freshman, rushed for 172 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Illini (4-3, 2-2 Big Ten) past the visiting Hoosiers (2-5, 0-4).

Kentucky 21, Arkansas 20: : Mike Hartline threw two fourth-quarter touchdown passes to Randall Cobb to help the host Wildcats (5-2, 1-2 Southeastern Conference) beat the Razorbacks (3-4, 1-3).

UCLA 23, Stanford 20: : Kevin Craft threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Cory Harkey with 10 seconds remaining to lift the host Bruins (3-4, 2-2 Pacific-10) over the Cardinal (4-4, 3-2).

Oregon State 34, Washington 13: : James Rodgers had 216 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns as the Beavers (4-3, 3-1 Pac-10) beat the host Huskies (0-6, 0-4).

Buffalo 27, Army 24, OT: : A.J. Principe made a 34-yard field goal in overtime and the visiting Bulls (3-4) rallied past the Black Knights (2-5). Army's Collin Mooney rushed for 172 yards and two touchdowns.
