Nominating commission holds public meeting

The School Board Nominating Commission of Anne Arundel County will hold a public meeting 7 p.m. Tuesday at Anne Arundel Community College, 101 College Parkway, West Campus, Cade Building Room 219.

No public testimony will be accepted during the administrative meeting.

Redistricting discussed

The Anne Arundel County Public Schools' Redistricting Committees looking at school boundary lines for the Mountain Road corridor in Pasadena and the area south of the South River will meet this week.

The Mountain Road corridor committee will meet at 7 p.m. tomorrow at Sunset Elementary School, 8572 Fort Smallwood Road to discuss redistricting options available in the Northeast and Chesapeake feeder systems.

The committee studying redistricting in the south county will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Shady Side Elementary School, 4859 Atwell Road to discuss options in the Southern and South River feeder systems.

Magnet program meets

Anne Arundel County Public Schools will hold a series of public information meetings in November on the Magnet School Program, including how to apply and meet other students and staff in the program.

Spanish and Korean interpreters will be available. A general session on the Magnet School Program will be held 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at South River High School.

Information and meetings about the Magnet programs are available from school guidance counselors or online at www.aacps.org/advanced programs.

'Grammy' offers grants

The Grammy in the Schools music program offers students the Grammy Jazz Ensembles and Grammy Camp, and for teachers, a Grammy Signature School grant.

The jazz ensemble program for singers and instrumentalists offers scholarships, a trip to the Grammy Awards and chance to perform at Grammy Week events. Grammy Camp offers hands-on career training from industry experts and performance and music business tracks.

Signature Schools grants provide cash from $1,000 to $10,000 for underfunded music programs as well as top music programs.

Deadline for applications is Wednesday at www.grammyintheschools.com.
