Colts: : One surgery on Peyton Manning's left knee apparently wasn't enough to fix his infected bursa sac. Coach Tony Dungy confirmed, after nearly two months, that the quarterback had a second surgery before returning to the field in late August. Dungy does not believe the second knee surgery was the reason the team had a sluggish start this season. Manning was not available a day after the Colts routed the Ravens, 31-3. The two-time league Most Valuable Player told the CBS broadcast team about the second surgery at a pre-game meeting, prompting announcers Jim Nantz and Phil Simms to address the issue Sunday.

Bills: : Quarterback Trent Edwards was back at work a week after being knocked out with a concussion in the Week 5 loss to Arizona and said he expects to play Sunday when the team hosts San Diego.

Seahawks: : Seattle will be without quarterback Matt Hasselbeck for at least one more game because a months-old bulging disc in his back is causing problems with his knee. If backup Seneca Wallace can practice this week after missing last week with a calf injury, he will start. Otherwise, No. 3 quarterback Charlie Frye will make his second consecutive start.

Bengals:: Quarterback Carson Palmer will miss another game because of his sore passing elbow. Coach Marvin Lewis said Ryan Fitzpatrick will start against the Steelers on Sunday, giving Palmer an additional week to rest. It'll be the third game Palmer misses this season because of the injury.

Chiefs: : Running back Larry Johnson faces a December date in Kansas City (Mo.) Municipal Court on a charge of simple assault. The municipal violation, filed last month, stemmed from an incident Feb. 24 in which a 26-year-old woman accused Johnson, 28, of using his open hand to push the left side of her head, according to court and police documents obtained by The Kansas City Star. The team had no comment, and Johnson was unavailable for comment.

Jaguars: : A judge allowed wide receiver Matt Jones to enter a drug treatment program after the player was arrested on a cocaine charge earlier this year. The decision by Washington County (Ark.) Circuit Judge Mary Ann Gunn means he could have the charge dismissed if he completes the treatment.
