Crime and safety meeting planned

The Harper's Choice Community Association will sponsor a Safety Awareness and Crime Prevention Town Meeting at 7 p.m. Oct. 14 at Kahler Hall, 5440 Old Tucker Road in Harper's Choice Village Center.

The Harper's Choice Village Board, County Councilwoman Mary Kay Sigaty, and senior members of the Howard County Police Department will participate in a discussion about safety.

Health programs

The Howard County Library, 10375 Little Patuxent Parkway, will offer "Sugar: How Much is Too Much?," a program with Courtney Carpenter, nutritionist and herbal expert at David's Natural Market, at 7 p.m. Oct. 22.

She will discuss how to recognize sugar in all its forms and how to read ingredient labels to make wise food choices. Samples of low-sugar snacks will be provided.

Help with wills

Attorney Valerie Rocco will be at the Bain Center, 5470 Ruth Keeton Way, for the 60 Plus Wills and Legal Screening Program from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 15.

Services will include simple wills, powers of attorney, living wills, small estates and deed changes. The program is open to Howard County residents ages 60 and older. The cost is on a sliding scale.

The program, which is sponsored by the Howard County Department of Citizen Services' Office on Aging, is held the third Wednesday of each month.
