Double steal gone bad: : With one out and runners on first and third in the fifth inning, the Orioles tried a delayed double steal in a game in which they were leading by one run. Aubrey Huff, who was on first, took off, and when Rays catcher Dioner Navarro threw to second, Nick Markakis broke from third. But Akinori Iwamura's throw to the plate was perfect and Navarro tagged out Markakis. The Orioles didn't score in the inning.
Bierd's tough inning: : Orioles reliever Randor Bierd entered in the eighth with two outs and the bases loaded and the Rays holding a one-run lead. Bierd walked the next two batters and then gave up a single to Navarro that scored two more. Three batters, four runs scored.
Liz puts up fives: : Radhames Liz pitched five innings, gave up five hits, allowed five runs (four earned) and struck out five. He blew the chance at perfect fives by walking only three.
