Mac's team : A bull roast and auction is scheduled Oct. 19 at Michael's Eighth Avenue to help pay medical costs for Cormac "Mac" Murray, 3, the son of Brian and Aimee Murray of Sykesville. The child has been diagnosed with metachromatic leukodystrophy, a rare disease that affects the nervous system and for which there is no known cure. Last year, friends calling themselves "Mac's Team" held a fundraiser for research and to help the Murrays with medical expenses. Proceeds will go to the Murray family. Information, tickets or auction donations: www.macsteam.org.

Art bras : The Anne Arundel County Department of Health and the Annapolis Quilt Guild are accepting entries for the fourth annual Cup of the Month Challenge. Contestants will create Art Bras, which promote breast cancer awareness, screening and treatment. Entry forms and contest rules are available at the Department of Health Web site, www.aahealth.org. There is no cost to enter, but bras must be submitted by tomorrow. Winning entries will be displayed at county sites through October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In 2007, 36 contestants created Art Bras. They can be viewed on the Cup of the Month Challenge Bra Art Web page.
