A Baltimore man has been convicted of murder in the 2007 stabbing of another man, according to the Baltimore state's attorney's office.
A jury found Willie Ferguson, 40, of the 3700 block of Woodbine Ave. guilty of second-degree murder and carrying a concealed dangerous weapon. According to prosecutors, Ferguson and Richard Ray, 38, had been trying to sell stolen property to people doing car repair work in a parking area in the 5200 block of Fairlawn Ave. Ferguson wanted to go through a hole in the fence to take a shortcut across the railroad tracks, but Ray did not want to. The two men argued before Ferguson began hitting Ray, pinning him by the throat against a parked car and stabbing him in the neck, prosecutors said. Ray bled to death as Ferguson fled the area through a hole in the fence, they said. Ferguson is to be sentenced Nov. 18.
