Man charged in two early morning robberies

A 21-year-old man was charged with two robberies after police say he stole a man's wallet and then wriggled through a McDonald's drive through window and held up the employees at gun-point early Thursday morning, Annapolis police said.

About 3:20 a.m., a man flashed a handgun, demanded a wallet from another man walking on Ellington Drive near Janwell Street and then fled on a bicycle, police said.

About 50 minutes later, a man matching the same description as the suspect crawled through the drive-through window of the McDonald's restaurant in the 1900 block of West St., showed a handgun and ordered the employees to lie on the floor. He took cash from the register, climbed back out the window and pedaled away on a bicycle, police said.

An officer spotted a man abandoning a bicycle near the intersection of Hilltop and Chatham lanes and running away. County officers with dogs and Maryland State police in helicopters joined in the search and arrested Jontae Arnell Powell, 21, of Hilltop Lane, hiding in the backyard of a home in the 1400 block of Stone Creek Road, police said.

Powell was charged with armed robbery, assault and related offenses, police said.

Police search for Glen Burnie robbery suspect

Anne Arundel County Police are searching for a man who robbed a Glen Burnie fast-food restaurant Wednesday night.

The man said, "I need to make ends meet. Give me all your money," according to police.

An employee gave the man an unknown quantity of cash, and the man fled on foot toward Ritchie Highway.

He has blond hair, blue eyes, a scruffy goatee and a tattoo on his neck, and was wearing a gray-hooded sweat shirt, blue jeans, black flip-flops and a blue and white baseball cap, police said.
