The house that lies on a point that juts into Cattail Creek has panoramic views of the water and the greenery that hugs it. Every room, including the upstairs corridor, looks out to the creek.

"We probably looked for two years for waterfront property. My husband found this in the snow," said Eileen Glendinning.

The property, in Severna Park, has 270 feet of waterfront, allowing Glendinning and her husband, Stewart, to have a deep water pier and two boat lifts just downhill from the house they built nine years ago.

They planned the house to have good flow for easy entertaining, allowing the work area of the kitchen, with its island, to open into an eating area and family room, as well as into the living and dining rooms. The design, which has a main-floor master suite, allows them the convenience of one-level living and provides privacy for guests who stay upstairs.

About the house : Built in 1999, the vinyl-sided house is at the end of a road. The two-story foyer has beige marble tile flooring, echoed in the family-room's gas fireplace. A cathedral ceiling and wall of windows overlooking the creek set off the family room.

Most of the main level has oak plank floors, decorative moldings and built-ins for display and storage. The large dining room, with its tray ceiling, opens into the living room, a feature that allows for extending a dining room table into the living room for big dinners.

The kitchen has upgraded appliances, an oversize pantry and outfitted white cabinetry that includes a desk. Glass doors open onto a rear brick-edged patio that is under the dappled shade of oaks.

A wide, two-story-high shed on the house's exterior accommodates tall ladders.

Address: 301 Fairtree Drive, Severna Park 21146

Asking price : $2,199,000

Taxes: $11,409

Size: The house has about 3,500 square feet of living space and is on about a half-acre.

Features: The house has four bedrooms (three upstairs), three full bathrooms and a powder room. A screened porch, off the family room, has a tongue-and-groove wood ceiling.

The master bedroom has a walk-in closet and a bathroom with a whirlpool tub, separate shower, double-sink vanity and separate water closet.

In addition to the main staircase from the foyer, the house has a second staircase between the upstairs and a tiled area off the kitchen that has a laundry center and full bathroom. With a separate door to the backyard, the area does double-duty as a mudroom.

An upstairs deck faces the water.

The house includes unfinished spaces upstairs - which could be turned into an office, playroom or second master suite. "We didn't finish it because we didn't need more rooms," Eileen Glendinning said.

The house has an intercom system throughout, recessed lighting in many rooms and zoned heating and cooling.
