John C. Fallon, lawyer and insurance executive

John C. "Jack" Fallon, a retired lawyer and insurance company executive, died Aug. 27 of progressive supranuclear palsy at Stella Maris Hospice in Timonium. The Riderwood resident was 77.

Mr. Fallon, who was born in Cincinnati, grew up in Mount Washington. He was a 1949 graduate of Calvert Hall College High School, where he had been an outstanding athlete. He was named to the All-Maryland football team his junior and senior years, and also was voted the Unsung Hero in 1949.

He received a football scholarship to Georgetown University, and after the school discontinued its football program, he transferred to Loyola College in Maryland, where he was a member of the wrestling and lacrosse teams.

After earning his bachelor's degree from Loyola in 1953, he served in the Coast Guard for several years.

Mr. Fallon earned a law degree from the University of Baltimore and went to work in 1960 for State Farm Insurance, where he was senior negotiator. He retired in 1995.

Mr. Fallon, who lived in the Village Green section of Riderwood, was an avid golfer and fisherman. He also was a longtime Orioles fan.

He was a communicant of the Roman Catholic Church of the Nativity, 20 E. Ridgely Road, Timonium, where a Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. today.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years, the former Geraldine Quinn; three stepsons, Thomas J. Mooney IV of Lutherville, Patrick J. Mooney of Anneslie and Timothy J. Mooney of Sparks; a stepdaughter, Mary Megan Mooney of Owings Mills; two sisters, Kathleen Zeidler of Roland Park and Joanne Ratliffe of Ruxton; and nine step-grandchildren.
