Computer classes for women looking for jobs
Harford Community College is offering its "Computer Training for Re-entry Women" series to help women who are re-entering the work force, need to gain or improve computer skills, or want to advance or change their career.
Workshops include:
* Starting Over: Women will identify strengths and map out strategies to achieve personal and professional goals.
* Computer Training for Re-entry Women: Women will learn how to use new computer skills.
* Keeping Track of Files and Folders teaches file management.
* Excel for Re-entry Women: Women learn how to create and use spreadsheets.
* Resume Writing Workshop: This online course shows how to create resumes.
* 12 Steps to a Successful Job Search: This online course teaches how to conduct job searches.
The series begins from 9 a.m. to 12:10 p.m. Sept. 17 in Edgewood Hall, Room 207.

'Finding Your Future' program for kids, parents
The Greater Edgewood Foundation will hold a "Finding Your Future" program for students, parents and guardians of Edgewood area schools from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 27 at Edgewood Middle School, 2311 Willoughby Beach Road.
The event will feature keynote speaker the Pastor Al Reeves, music by Boys iL Men, and free homework tool kits, breakfast and lunch, giveaways and prizes, and USB drives for high school students.
Activities include workshops on mystery/forensics for elementary students, goal setting for learning success, college planning and scholarship applications. The cost is $5 per family. Students in kindergarten to eighth grade must be accompanied by an adult.

Cecil College holds groundbreaking
Cecil College recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for a physical education complex on its North East campus.
The project, a renovation and addition on the Physical Education and Activities Building, is expected to take approximately 18 months to complete. The 21,580-square-foot addition will increase the size of the current facility by 74 percent.
In addition to serving as the home for Cecil athletics, the building will include academic offerings, such as a new physical therapy assistant and fitness trainer programs.
When completed, the complex will feature a gymnasium with a wood floor and both bleacher and chair back seating, five classrooms, elevator, group exercise room, fitness center, athletic training room, and other modern amenities.
Cecil College, UM to partner for dental program
Cecil College and the University of Maryland Dental School are partnering to educate dental hygienists to serve in an area that is underserved for dental care.
The agreement recently was signed at the UM Dental School in Baltimore and will create a clinical teaching site at the dental clinic house in Union Hospital's Principio Health Center in Perryville.
Cecil area students who wish to pursue a career as a dental hygienist can now perform their clinical work close to home while earning a bachelor's degree from the UM Dental School.
