Matchup: Delaware (0-0) at Maryland (0-0, 0-0 Atlantic Coast Conference)

Time: 3:45 p.m.

Site: Byrd Stadium, College Park

Radio: 1300 AM

Series: Delaware leads 5-3-1

Last meeting: Maryland won, 21-0, on Oct. 2, 1948, in Delaware. Maryland's 43-19 victory in 1947 broke Delaware's 32-game unbeaten streak.

Maryland offense vs. Delaware defense: New offensive coordinator James Franklin will call plays for Maryland quarterback Jordan Steffy. Steffy is likely to try to find a comfort zone early with short passes and handoffs. Maryland's speed at wide receiver will present the temptation to look deep as well. Delaware returns eight defensive starters, led by junior defensive end Matt Marcorelle, who led the team with eight sacks and a school-record five forced fumbles. Delaware was runner-up last season in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA), losing, 49-21, to Appalachian State.

Maryland defense vs. Delaware offense: Maryland's strength is at linebacker, and the group will look to disrupt Delaware with penetration. Delaware has two receivers, Aaron Love and Mark Duncan, who combined for 143 catches and 1,925 yards last season. But here's the mystery: Coach K.C. Keeler won't publicly announce the quarterback starter until game time. It's between Ohio State transfer Rob Schoenhoft and redshirt freshman Lou Ritacco.
