August 23, 2008|By Julie Scharper

A 17-year-old boy was in critical condition after being shot in the neck in the 2500 block of McHenry St. yesterday afternoon, police said.

The boy had been sitting on steps on the side of the street about 1 p.m. when he got up and walked into a space between two houses on the other side, police spokesman Agent Donny Moses said.

Shots were fired and the boy fell.

He was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was in critical but stable condition last night, Moses said.

Police did not know of a motive for the shooting and had no suspects. The victim's identity was not released.
