A 28-year-old man was shot on an East Baltimore street early yesterday morning and died less than an hour later at a hospital, police said.

The man - one of two people shot late Thursday or early yesterday in East Baltimore - was standing on the sidewalk in the 2400 block of E. Lanvale St., near North Milton Street, about 2:15 a.m. when someone shot him multiple times and then fled, police said.

Paramedics took the victim to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he died at 3:02 a.m., police said.

Police were withholding the victim's name because his relatives had not been notified.

The earlier shooting occurred at 9:25 p.m. Thursday in the 400 block of N. Glover St., police said.

A city police officer heard gunshots and drove onto the block, where she found the victim lying face down near North Glover and East Jefferson streets.

The 17-year-old had been shot in the face and stomach, and paramedics took him to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he immediately underwent surgery, police said.

His condition was not immediately available.
