Yankees update

The Yankees won eight straight games after the All-Star break, but they've cooled off significantly since, going 9-14 entering last night's series finale against the Toronto Blue Jays. The Yankees are 5-7 against the Orioles this year. They haven't lost a season series against their American League East rivals since 1997. Shortstop Derek Jeter entered last night two hits shy of 2,500 for his career. He was 16-for-28 over his past six games with a homer and four RBIs. Second baseman Robinson Cano is hitting .314 with four homers and 17 RBIs in 30 games since the All-Star break after batting .246 with six homers and 38 RBIs in 93 games before it. Alex Rodriguez has five homers and nine RBIs in 12 games against the Orioles this season. Outfielder Hideki Matsui is 1-for-7 since returning from the disabled list.
