Mistakenly freed inmate captured

A man who had been mistakenly released from prison was arrested in West Baltimore last night, a Baltimore Sheriff's Office lieutenant said.

Thomas Lee, 26, was arrested without incident by members of the sheriff's special operations team as he left a house in the 2900 block of Edmondson Ave. about 7:40 p.m., Lt. Sam Cogen said.

Lee, who had 18 months left to serve for assaulting a sheriff's deputy, was released Tuesday after a courtroom clerk mistakenly filled out a release form.

When the error was spotted, a warrant was issued for Lee's arrest.

After arresting Lee, sheriff's deputies took him to the Baltimore Central Booking and Intake Center, where he was being held without bail, Cogen said.
