JOHN JAMES DIXON, JR., 83, of Catonsville, died August 10, 2008 at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore. Born April 17, 1925 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late John J. Dixon, Sr. and Edna M. Sheffer Dixon. He was the husband of the late Maude Miriam Belle Dixon who died in 2002. He was an illustrator for the United States Government. He served in the Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the Church of the Open Door in Westminster and formerly attended Catonsville Baptist Church. He was a life member of VWF Post 6458 in Catonsville. Surviving are daughters Millicent E. Dixon of Westminster and Ellen Murphy of Cincinnati, OH, son James A. Dixon of Catonsville, sister Mary E. Leslie of Westminster and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by siblings Mildred M. Bursey, David E. Dixon and Edward M. Dixon. A Graveside Service will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. at the Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, 11501 Garrison Forest Road in Owings Mills.
