'Look Good' program planned

The American Cancer Society is sponsoring a "Look Good, Feel Better" program for cancer patients at 5 p.m. tomorrow at the Oncology Center at Riverside.

The program also will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center.

The program provides make-up and hair techniques to combat the effects of treatment.

Lupus support group tomorrow

Lupus Mid-Atlantic will hold a support group meeting at 7 p.m. tomorrow at the Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air.

Meetings are open to the public and are facilitated by a licensed clinical social worker.

CPR class for health providers

Upper Chesapeake Health is offering a cardiopulmonary resuscitation class for healthcare providers from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center.

This class follows the American Heart Association standards. The cost is $35, cash or check only. Registration is required.

Support for cancer patients

Upper Chesapeake Health has a new cancer support group for cancer patients and their families.

The group will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center and 2 p.m. Aug. 19 at Harford Memorial Hospital.

The program will be a discussion, "Communicating Concerns and Feelings."

Holistic healing workshop set

Upper Chesapeake Health will hold a holistic healing self-care group from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center.

Participants can learn about stress reduction, holistic self-care and energy healing techniques.

Health screenings available

Upper Chesapeake HealthLink's Medical Mobile Van will be in the Upper Chesapeake Medical Center's parking lot M, MacPhail and Tollgate roads, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday.

Free blood pressure, sleep disorder and body fat analysis screenings will be offered.

Also available are: cholesterol screenings for $10; osteoporosis screenings for $15; and cardiac risk assessments for $20 (cash or check only).

Osteoporosis screenings require a scan of the bare foot.

Free hearing screenings are available, by appointment, for ages 5 and older by Dr. Gehris, Jordan & Associates.

Diabetes aid at senior center

Upper Chesapeake Health will offer a diabetes support group at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 19 at the Aberdeen Senior Center.

Joint pain seminar on Aug. 19

Upper Chesapeake Health will hold a free seminar on joint pain with Dr. William Cook, board certified orthopedic surgeon, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 19 at Harford Memorial Hospital, Susquehanna Room.

Participants can learn how to have a better quality of life and hear discussions on different options for individuals suffering with joint pain.

Gastric banding info offered

Upper Chesapeake Health will offer a free information session on laparoscopic gastric banding, a new procedure in the bariatric surgery program.

The session will be held at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 19 at Harford Memorial Hospital in the Havre de Grace Room.

A monthly support group for people who have had the surgery will be held after the class at 7 p.m. Aug. 19.
