Free finance seminars offered

Author Leo Vidal will present free finance seminars at 11 a.m. Friday and Saturday at the offices of Enterprise Financial Training Inc. in Glen Burnie.

The topics will be financial security and retirement planning. Reservations are required.

Children's Guild appoints director, VP

The Children's Guild has hired Nichole Leonard as director of family life education and has promoted Terry Manning as vice president of children's services.

Leonard will oversee the staff, training, clinical, marketing, recruitment and business operations for the Guild's treatment foster care program in Baltimore, Anne Arundel and Prince George's counties.

Leonard has 16 years of social work experience. She teaches with the adjunct faculty at Coppin State University, and serves on the Johns Hopkins Hospital Adolescent Community Advisory Board and the East Baltimore Mental Health Partnership Community Advisory Board.

Manning, an 11-year employee of The Children's Guild, will manage the family help center, treatment foster care, therapeutic group living residences and other nonschool services.

Manning is a licensed certified social worker. She holds a master's degree in social work.

Giant store to hold reopening Aug. 22

Giant Food will hold a grand reopening for its newly remodeled store at 7940 Crain Highway in Glen Burnie, at 8 a.m. Aug. 22.

The reopening will showcase improvements to the store's produce and other perishable departments, the new decor and other customer service offerings.

One hundred Giant stores in Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and Washington are being remodeled as a part of the company's "Project Fresh" remodeling program.

Free bankruptcy workshops offered

O'Herlihy Law is offering free, weekly workshops on "What You Should Know If You Are Considering Bankruptcy" from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. every Thursday beginning Aug. 28 at the law office, 100 Ridgely Ave. in west Annapolis.

Workshop topics include: an explanation of bankruptcy and its consequences; how to determine whether bankruptcy is the right next step; and the difference between chapters 7, 11 and 13.
