Kennedy, Margolis join foundation

Missy Mattey, executive director of the Howard Community College Educational Foundation Inc., has announced the addition of two members to the organization's board of directors: Padraic (Pat) Kennedy and Steve Margolis, and two retiring directors: Joanne Eyre and Dr. Mohammed Warshanna.

Kennedy was the first president and chief executive officer of the Columbia Association for 26 years. He is a founding member and president of the Columbia Festival of the Arts.

Margolis is senior vice president, business unit leader at Healthways, responsible for sales, operations, finance product development and strategic direction for a $40 million business unit.

Eyre has served two three-year terms. She contributed to the athletics, nominating and new ventures committees.

Warshanna, president and chief executive officer of Angel Dental Care in Annapolis and Catonsville, served two two-year terms.

Inspectors return from flood-aid trip

Sean Kelly, Ed Ackerman, Kenneth Brown and Dave Baer, building inspectors at the Howard County Department of Inspections, Licenses and Permits, returned from nine days in Iowa, where they were sent by Howard County Executive Ken Ulman to assist with building inspections and damage assessment in the flood-stricken area south of Cedar Rapids.

The inspectors were sent after the state of Iowa issued a call for help to the Maryland Emergency Management Agency.return
