Boys and Girls Club plan Night Out

The Edgewood Boys and Girls Club will host a National Night Out event from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at 2002 Cedar Lane.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of National Night Out, when residents are urged to turn on their lights and join with local law enforcement agencies to fight crime in their neighborhoods.

Edgewood families are encouraged to attend for a family-friendly evening of fun.



Pet-adoption program to be held Saturday

The Humane Society of Harford County will hold a Pet Adopt-a-Thon from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company, 3825 Federal Hill Road.

The fire company will hold its fifth Classic Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show all day, with door prizes, raffles, breakfast and lunch foods and live music.

The Humane Society will offer animals for adoption.

Disabilities panel seeks award nominees

The Harford County Commission on Disabilities' Employment Committee is taking nominations for the annual awards to recognize Disability Employment Awareness Month in October.

Anyone can nominate an individual, business or organization that has made an impact in supporting the employment of people with disabilities.

Six categories of awards will be presented: Employee of the Year; Employer of the Year; Harford County Student Worker of the Year; Accessibility Award; Ruth Helen Thompson Memorial Community Service Award; and the Media Award.

Deadline for nominations is Sept. 10.

Panel accepting calendar submissions

The Bel Air Economic and Community Development Commission is accepting submissions for the town's 2009 Calendar of Events.
