12-week program to boost kids' fitness

Body Styles By Mel is offering 20 middle and high school students a free 12-week fitness and nutrition program to develop lifelong healthy habits.

Applications for the Next Generation Journey are being accepted through Aug. 15. The program will run from Sept. 2 to Nov. 25 at Body Styles by Mel, 135 Industry Lane, Forest Hill.

Students in grades six to 12 who have a 2.5 grade point average or higher may apply. The application requires a fitness questionnaire and essay.

Students will learn how to change their habits early in life to avoid health problems such as heart disease and diabetes.

Minkley joins credit union

HAR-CO Maryland Federal Credit Union has hired Joyce Minkley as vice president/marketing director to manage the credit union's member communications and community outreach efforts.

Minkley has more than 20 years of experience in Maryland banking. She worked for three Baltimore-area banks, creating customer satisfaction programs. She also has experience in financial services marketing.
