The hotel, with about 30 percent of its rooms offering views into the ballpark, is connected to the Baltimore Convention Center with an enclosed pedestrian bridge over Howard Street. It includes a lobby bar with seating for 90, a fitness center, a sports-theme restaurant, a grand ballroom and a junior ballroom.
"We wanted a quiet presence of a building, not flashy, that would wear well over time," Brodie said.
Designers from Daroff Design Inc. said they drew on the brick of nearby buildings and the harbor water to come up with a color scheme of rust and jewel-toned blues and greens. "The goal was to have this hotel feel uniquely Baltimore," said Karen Daroff, president of Daroff Design.
