August 02, 2008|By Tyeesha Dixon

Howard County police have arrested a fourth suspect in the fatal shooting of a Columbia man in May.

Kevin Jennings, 19, of the first block of Montaigne Court in Pikesville was arrested Thursday night, police said yesterday. Investigators believe Jennings drove the other men involved in the shooting to the homicide scene.

About 3 a.m. May 17, police found Jason Batts, 23, of Columbia, dead in the parking lot of Stevens Forest Apartments in the 5800 block of Stevens Forest Road in Columbia. Since May, Ronald Derrick McConnell of Columbia and Daymar Wimbish and Lamont Anthony Johnson, both of Owings Mills, have been charged in the homicide.

According to charging documents, McConnell ordered the shooting. Police believe Wimbish lured Batts to the scene by calling his friend, and that Johnson shot Batts.

All the men have been charged with first-degree murder, among other charges. In addition to murder, Jennings was charged with hindering an investigation and conspiring to commit murder, police said.
