A man charged in a warrant with the fatal shooting of another man during an argument July 19 in a West Baltimore liquor store has been arrested, a city police spokesman said.

Arrested yesterday a few streets from the scene of the shooting at Linden Bar and Liquors in the 900 block of W. North Ave. was Maurice Fullwood, 28, of the first block of S. Tremont Road, said Sterling Clifford, the spokesman.

Fullwood is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting of Omar K. Phillips, 36, of the 3200 block of Cardenas Ave., near Herring Run Park.

Central District police were called to the store about 10:15 p.m. and found the victim dead from a gunshot wound to the head.

As police canvassed the area in search of the gunman, he was spotted running in the 2200 block of Linden Ave.. When an officer ordered the man to stop, he turned and fired at the officer, who was not hit and returned fire. The apparently uninjured gunman fled.

Bail information on Fullwood was not available.
