Resurfacing project starts on Route 175

The Maryland Department of Transportation's State Highway Administration has started a $1.5 million project to resurface about three miles along westbound Route 175, between U.S. 29 and Dobbin Road, in Columbia.

Traffic signals at Thunder Hill Road, Tamar Drive and Dobbin Road will be enhanced with pedestrian "countdown" technology, displaying the amount of time available for pedestrians to cross the road.

Motorists should expect single-lane closures along Route 175 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. weekdays. Signs, barrels, flagging and arrow boards will guide motorists through the work zone.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of November, weather permitting.
