Bluegrass music

The lowdown : The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra will ditch the tuxedos for overalls when it goes bluegrass at Oregon Ridge Park on Saturday. The performance will feature slapstick humor. There also will be activities for kids, vendors and fireworks when the sun goes down.

If you go : The park opens at 5 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m. Oregon Ridge Park is at 13401 Beaver Dam Road, Cockeysville. Admission is $16 for adults and $9 for kids under 12, in advance and $20 for adults and $10 for kids under 12, at the gate. Call 410-547-7328 or go to bso music.org.

Belly dancing

The lowdown : The Meridian Dance Company will be performing in its Hafleh Sunday at Minas in Hampden. The monthly performances feature the belly-dancing company shimmying with regional guest dancers.

Bad Movies

The lowdown : Rock Candy will be holding its latest installment of Bad Movie Thursdays for those interested in torturous cinematic fare. This week's feature is the 1975 film Death Race 2000 , starring David Carradine. People are encouraged to bring their own refreshments (if they can stomach eating them during the show).
