Teresa C. Murray, a homemaker and former theater administrator, died of pneumonia Friday at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. The Crownsville resident was 79.
Teresa Marie Cain was born and raised in Scotts Bluff, Neb., and graduated from the University of Nebraska.
Mrs. Murray also studied studio art at the Corcoran College of Art in Washington and, while a student there, met her future husband, George E. Murray, an architect.
The couple married in 1950 and lived in University Park until moving to Crownsville in 1999. Mr. Murray died in 2006.
Mrs. Murray worked from 1979 to 1988 as director of administration for the Catholic University of America's Hartke Theater.
She enjoyed attending the theater and spending time with her family at her home overlooking the Severn River.
Mrs. Murray was a communicant of Our Lady of the Fields Roman Catholic Church, 1070 Cecil Ave. South, Millersville, where a memorial Mass will be offered at 3 p.m. today.
Surviving are five sons, Michael K. Murray of Glen Burnie, Patrick D. Murray and Timothy V. Murray, both of Durham, N.C., Daniel C. Murray of Ellicott City and Brendan J. Murray of Severna Park; four daughters, Mary Claire "Molly" Murray of Glen Burnie, Colleen J. Lyon of Ocean City, Margaret Ann Lamarre of Lisbon and Tara Lee Perry of Dublin, Ohio; two brothers, James Cain of Houston and Dennis Cain of Rockville; two sisters, Jeanne Slovenkay of Winter Park, Fla., and Sister Margaret Mary Cain of Sao Paolo, Brazil; and 12 grandchildren.
