Baltimore fashionistas searching for the latest in designer shoes will surely rejoice at the opening of Sassanova, the latest boutique to open in Harbor East.

The shop, which opened June 2, is the second store for the friends who opened Sassanova in Washington's Georgetown neighborhood. Frustrated by the district's chain-store offerings, Sassy Jacobs and Sarah Cannova took matters into their own hands.

"They realized there was a niche in D.C. not being filled," says Baltimore store manager Marion Warner. "They wanted a refined and edited version of Neiman Marcus and Saks."

Sassanova stocks designers including Bettye Muller, Sigerson Morrison and Loeffler Randal. Prices, which range from about $75 to upward of $600, include teal patent leather Elie Tahari slip-ons for $195 and Tori Burch's logo flats for the same price.

There's also a selection of bags, jewelry and gifts. Soon, Warner said, there will also be Calypso dresses and sarongs and new shoe brands for fall, including Pucci, Marc by Marc Jacobs and Christian Lacroix.
