A 15-year-old boy was shot in the ankle early yesterday in North Baltimore's Govans neighborhood, city police said.

The victim, who is in good condition at Johns Hopkins Hospital, was shot about midnight in the 500 block of Richwood Ave., one block north of East Cold Spring Lane. Police said that he was standing in the block talking to his sister and another person when an unidentified male approached from an alley and fired several gunshots at him.

The boy ran into the 4500 block of St. Georges Ave., where he called his grandmother, who then called police.

The case is being investigated by detectives in the Northern District.
