Evelyn M. Petr, a retired newspaper carrier and active church member, died Thursday of Parkinson's disease at her daughter's home in Parrish, Fla. The former longtime Cape St. Claire resident was 82.

Evelyn M. Sullivan was born in Baltimore and raised on Washington Street in East Baltimore. She was a graduate of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church commercial high school.

She was married for 45 years to Gregory J. Petr Sr., a printer. He died in 2000.

Mrs. Petr, who had lived in Cape St. Claire since the late 1960s, delivered The (Annapolis) Capital for 25 years until her retirement in 2000.

Mrs. Petr, who moved to Parrish in 2005, enjoyed traveling and word puzzles. She was an avid Orioles and NASCAR fan.

Mrs. Petr had been an active communicant of St. Peter by the Bay Roman Catholic Church, 701 College Parkway, Annapolis, where a Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 11 a.m. tomorrow.

Survivors include her daughter, Paula M. Guyer of Parrish; a son, Gregory J. Petr Jr. of Severna Park; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Another son, Gilbert T. Petr, died in 1994.
