A 41-year-old man was shot and killed early yesterday near Lake Clifton Park in Northeast Baltimore, city police said.

Phillip Gaddy was in the 1700 block of Abbotston St., a block northwest of Harford Road, when he was shot. He was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:34 a.m., a police spokeswoman said.

Gaddy was the fourth person to be killed this year in the city's Coldstream Homestead Montebello neighborhood, which has seen an increase in the pace of homicides. In all of last year, five people were killed in the neighborhood, police statistics show.

Gaddy last lived in the 1600 block of E. Cold Spring Lane in Northeast Baltimore, police said. They said a witness provided some information about the killing, but no motive or suspect in the case was immediately disclosed.
