Cubs update

Several prominent members of the Orioles' organization have ties to the Chicago Cubs, including president of baseball operations Andy MacPhail, manager Dave Trembley and pitching coach Rick Kranitz. However, the Orioles have never played at Wrigley Field. They will meet a surging Cubs team that has the best record in the major leagues and is 32-8 at home. The Cubs, who swept the White Sox in three games over the weekend, have won 14 straight at Wrigley, their longest streak since 1936. Over his past three games, slugging third baseman Aramis Ramirez is 6-for-13 with four home runs and eight RBIs. Veteran outfielder Jim Edmonds, let go by the San Diego Padres, has two hits in four of his past six starts. Outfielder Eric Patterson, the younger brother of former Oriole Corey Patterson, is 5-for-8 with five runs and two RBIs since being called up from Triple-A Iowa. The Cubs are 6-4 since All-Star outfielder Alfonso Soriano left the lineup with a broken hand.
