Howard County police said yesterday that they are investigating the alleged sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl in Elkridge.

The girl told police that a man approached her about 3:30 p.m. Thursday as she walked alone on Rowanberry Drive. The man displayed a knife and took her to a wooded area, where he forced her to remove clothing and touched her inappropriately, police said.

She reported that the man then walked to the street nearby and got into the passenger side of an older model car with a yellow license plate and rode off.

The girl described the man as black, in his early to mid-20s, about 6 feet tall and 230 pounds, with short cornrows and stubble on his face. She said he was wearing dark jeans and a red tank-top shirt.

Police are offering a $1,000 reward and ask that anyone with information call 410-313-STOP.
