A recap of the Orioles' 2-1 win over the Astros last night:

Too late for Guthrie

Jeremy Guthrie held the Astros to one run over eight innings, striking out eight, but he still didn't get the win. The Orioles trailed, 1-0, until Luke Scott led off the seventh inning with his 12th homer. They loaded the bases with one out but couldn't take the lead. The outcome was decided in the 10th, when Kevin Millar singled to center to score Melvin Mora, who singled with one out and took third base on Aubrey Huff's single.

Berkman's blast

Lance Berkman became the fourth player this year to hit a ball onto Eutaw Street. His 430-foot blast, which hit the Warehouse on a bounce, gave the Astros a 1-0 lead in the seventh.

Markakis robbed

Nick Markakis thought he had increased his team-leading home run total to 13 when he drove Brian Moehler's pitch to deep left-center field in the third inning. But Astros center fielder Michael Bourn cruised to the fence, leaped and reached over it to make the catch.

On deck

The Orioles and Astros conclude their interleague series tonight (7:05). The Orioles will send left-hander Brian Burres (5-5, 5.28) to the mound. Burres has a 7.09 ERA at home this year. Shawn Chacon will start for the Astros tonight. He's 2-1 with a 4.02 ERA in four career games against the Orioles.
