Anti-crime rally set Fri. in Towson

Citizens On Patrol and the Baltimore County Police Department are holding a community rally against crime beginning at 6 p.m. Friday on Allegheny Avenue between Washington Avenue and the roundabout in Towson.

After a brief program honoring individuals and organizations that have helped make Towson a safer place to live and work, there will be live music and activities for children.

Local civic groups will have information booths along Allegheny Avenue and food will be available for purchase. Free parking also will be available.

Basketball game to aid foundation

Entertainers and professional athletes will be among the participants in the Kurk Lee Foundation's celebrity basketball game Saturday at Towson University.

The event at the university's Towson Center will benefit the foundation, which is based at the Carmelo Anthony Youth Development Center in East Baltimore. Doors will open at 3 p.m.

Anthony, a Baltimore native who plays with the Denver Nuggets, is among the celebrities scheduled to participate. General admission is $21.

Patapsco Valley

Jr. Rangers programs to be offered at park

Patapsco Valley State Park will offer Maryland Junior Rangers programs for children ages 8 to 13 at the Orange Grove and Hilton areas and Soldier's Delight Natural Environmental Area this summer.

Participants will take part in a variety of nature activities, complete an activity book, attend a Ranger Round-Up and perform a service project.

The cost is $20 per child and $10 for each additional family member.

Programs will be held Tuesdays from June 24 to July 22 at Soldier's Delight, Wednesdays from June 25 to July 23 at Orange Grove, and Thursdays from July 3 to July 31 at the Hilton Area. Hours are 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at each location.

Perry Hall

Fundraiser set for Fullerton fireworks

A fundraiser to benefit the nonprofit group that stages the annual July 4 fireworks display in Fullerton will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at the Batter's Box Tavern, 9527 Belair Road in Perry Hall.

The Allied Community Services Committee Inc. uses donations to pay for the annual fireworks display at the Fullerton Elementary School.

The Fullerton Fourth of July fireworks show has been a community tradition since 1961.
