Wanted man arrested after ride in taxicab

An Annapolis man who was recently featured on the Anne Arundel County's Most Wanted TV show was arrested after an officer recognized him as a passenger in a passing taxicab, city police said.

The officer knew that the man in the cab - on Bywater Road approaching Copeland Street around 12:30 a.m. Thursday - was Keith Bithol Williams, 21, of Admiral Drive, and that he was wanted on a warrant for first-degree assault. He is charged with firing numerous shots into an apartment on Newtowne Drive on May 18 after arguing with one of the residents.

Officers followed the cab to the Holiday Inn on Riva Road, where they were joined by Anne Arundel County police. During the arrest, officers seized approximately 29 grams of crack cocaine, two grams of marijuana, an electronic scale and more than $2,000 in cash. He was charged with drug possession with the intent to distribute and is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center on $2.25 million bond.

Man faces burglary, drug charges after arrest

A Severna Park man was arrested on drug and attempted burglary charges after police found a stash of drugs in his car outside a local assisted-living facility, Anne Arundel County police said.

An officer was investigating an attempted break-in at Sunrise Assisted Living, 43 McKinsey Road around 8 a.m. Thursday after employees reported a torn window screen, removed door hinges and a damaged alarm system.

Alerted to a suspicious car parked outside with someone sleeping inside it and a backpack and computer left on top, the officer headed there, and the driver apparently moved the car to a dead-end of the lot, dumping the items on the roof.

As the offer approached the car, Derek Lawson Watkins, 26, whose last known address is 307 Old County Road, ran by, with a maintenance person in pursuit.

More officers arrived and found Watkins just inside the wooded area in some deep underbrush.

Upon searching the suspect, his vehicle and the backpack, officers recovered 116 grams of marijuana worth about $4,000, several small bags of powder believed to be more drugs and various items used to weigh, package and distribute drugs.
