Getting to shake the hand of Brooks Robinson yesterday at Camden Yards was as much of a thrill for many of the players as being chosen for the prep All-Star game that carries the name of the Orioles legend.
In a news conference at Camden Yards, the North and South teams were introduced for the Brooks Robinson High School All-Star Game of Maryland that will be played after the Orioles-Pittsburgh Pirates game June 15.
Robinson was on hand yesterday, as he has been every year since 1982, to congratulate the seniors selected for the 15-player teams after a series of tryouts.
"It was unbelievable meeting a Hall of Famer like that," said Severna Park's second-team Sun All-Metro shortstop Cory Jensen, a member of the South team. "It puts a smile on your face."pat.omalley @baltsun.com
