Verdelho is an obscure Portuguese white-wine grape that ought to be better known if this wine is any indicator. It's a lush, ripe, dry wine that doesn't depend on oak for backbone or flavor interest. It offers a complex mix of peach, cherry, honey, mineral and herbs and a clean, persistent finish. What a delightful alternative to yet another chardonnay!
