Man jailed for sex with teen

May 31, 2008|By Julie Bykowicz

A 36-year-old Clarksburg man was sentenced yesterday to seven years and three months in federal prison for using a computer to entice a 15-year-old Anne Arundel County girl into having sex with him.

After his release from prison, Michael Lawrence Manoly is to register as a sex offender and will be under federal supervision for the rest of his life, U.S. District Judge Catherine C. Blake determined.

Prosecutors said Manoly, using the screen name "Kevin" and portraying himself as 25, began corresponding with the teenager in February 2006. The two met and engaged in sexual relations several times in Anne Arundel County, prosecutors said.

In January last year, authorities searched Manoly's home and recovered two of his laptop computers, which prosecutors said contained "numerous images of child pornography."
