Division III men's final

Salisbury (21-0) vs. SUNY Cortland (18-1)

Time -- 1:30 p.m.

Site -- Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, Mass.

Seeds -- Salisbury No. 1; SUNY Cortland No. 2

Outlook -- This is the third year in a row that Salisbury and SUNY Cortland have faced one another in the Division III championship game. The Sea Gulls won easily, 15-9, a year ago, but in 2006 the Red Dragons broke Salisbury's 69-game winning streak with a 13-12 overtime victory. This year's rubber match has the potential to be a shootout. Salisbury leads the nation in scoring, averaging more than 17 goals, and SUNY Cortland is second, putting up 16.74 a contest. The Sea Gulls are led by senior attackman Matt Hickman, who scored 60 goals and added 32 assists. The Red Dragons counter with Ryan Heath, who scored 51 goals and had 46 assists. The most interesting story line, however, should be the play of Sea Gulls goalie Nick Fiorentino. The third-string goalie for most of the season, Fiorentino was thrust into the starter's role when Salisbury's starting and backup goalies were suspended after they were arrested and charged with vandalizing homes in Wicomico County. Fiorentino made eight saves in the national semifinal victory.
