Free fitness tests open to seniors

The Harford County Department of Community Services' Office on Aging will offer a free physical fitness test for seniors at area senior centers for Older Americans Month.

Those 60 and older who are senior center members can get the test from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Edgewood Center, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at Aberdeen Center.

Participants will receive a free gift courtesy of Medi-Carefirst BlueCross BlueShield.

Car care clinics offered this week

The Maryland Department of the Environment, Baltimore Metropolitan Council and Precision Tune Auto Care are teaming up to offer free car care clinics this week.

Residents can get their car checked for proper tire condition/inflation, level/condition of vehicle fluids, and other maintenance issues.

Clinics will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Edgewood Senior Center, 1000 Gateway Road, 410-612-1622; and Thursday at McFaul Senior Center, 25 W. MacPhail Road, 410-638-4040.

Facilities closed in county for holiday

Harford County government offices will be closed tomorrow for Memorial Day.

The Harford County Waste Disposal Center and Waste to Energy, Harford Transit, Harford County Public Library, senior centers and public schools all will be closed tomorrow.

Certificates for free cat spay or neuter

Harford County Executive David R. Craig and the Humane Society of Harford County have announced Free Feline Fix, a new program aimed at controlling the county's surplus cat population.

Through June 30, the humane society will offer a certificate good for one free feline spay or neuter, a rabies vaccination and one topical flea control application.

Certificates are valid only at participating local veterinary offices. There is a limit of three certificates per family, or until funds are gone. Information: 410-836-1090, ext. 102.
