Health screenings at medical van

Upper Chesapeake HealthLink's Medical Mobile Van will be in the Upper Chesapeake Medical Center's parking lot M, MacPhail and Tollgate roads, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Free blood pressure, sleep disorder and body fat analysis screenings will be offered.

Also available are: cholesterol screenings for $10; osteoporosis screenings for $15; and cardiac risk assessments for $20 (cash or check only).

Osteoporosis screenings require a scan of the bare foot.

Doctor, survivor to speak at luncheon

Dr. Wendy Harphman will discuss "Embracing Life as a Cancer Survivor" at a luncheon celebrating cancer survivors from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 2 at the Richlin Ballroom in Abingdon.

A doctor with her own practice, a husband and three children, Harphman's life took a sharp turn when she was diagnosed with cancer.

She will tell her story and share some advice for other cancer patients.

Free health care for the underinsured

The Harford County Medical Society and Upper Chesapeake Health Foundation support HealthLink in providing free primary care to adults age 19 and older who are uninsured or underserved.

Harford and Cecil county residents who meet financial income requirements may be eligible to receive free and reduced screenings. Eligible residents include the uninsured, those who are unable to meet their 20 percent Medicare co-pay, low-income people and the homeless.

The Upper Chesapeake HealthLink Primary Care Clinic is at Swan Creek Village Center, 2027 Pulaski Highway, Suite 206, Havre de Grace.

Childbirth class at Upper Chesapeake

Upper Chesapeake Health will offer a six-week Prepared Childbirth Course from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursdays, June 5 to July 17 and Mondays, June 9 to July 21, at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center.

Weekend classes will be offered from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 28-29.

The cost is $50 for couples delivering at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center and $80 for others.

Prostate cancer support group

Upper Chesapeake Medical Center will hold a prostate cancer support group meeting at 7 p.m. June 4 in the Fallston Room.

Men who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer and their families are welcome.

New help for kids affected by ill family

Upper Chesapeake Health has started a new support group for children whose parents or grandparents have cancer, called CLIMB (Children's Lives Include Moments of Bravery).

The group will meet from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays through June 17 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center.
