Left Hand Out

Meet The Band

May 08, 2008|By SAM SESSA

Hometown -- Owings Mills

Current members --Justin Smith, drums; Tyler Principe, bass and lead vocals; Alec Galler, guitar

Founded in --2004

Style --progressive rock/alternative rock

Influenced by --My Morning Jacket, Radiohead

Notable --The trio formed their freshman year of high school and are about to release a new self-titled five-song EP. Though the band's style has a distinctive progressive-rock feel, the tunes on the EP incorporate other genres as well.

FOR THE RECORD - An article in Thursday's LIVE section listed an incorrect date for a concert by the band Left Hand Out at St. John's, Hamilton. The show is tonight.
The Sun regrets the error.

Quotable --"A lot of them are different," said Smith of the new tracks. "You get different vibes from each one. We have more jammy songs and pop songs."

See Left Hand Out on Sunday at St. John's Hamilton, 5315 Harford Road. Doors open at 5 p.m. $7. Go to myspace.com/stjohnshamilton. The band: myspace.com/lefthandout.
