Man convicted of armed robbery

May 02, 2008|By Nicole Fuller

A 20-year-old Annapolis man was convicted and sentenced yesterday to 18 months in prison for robbing a 19-year-old at gunpoint.

Reco Ramon Johnson of the 700 block of Newtowne Drive entered an Alford plea to a single count of armed robbery in the Aug. 22, 2007 incident, conceding that prosecutors had enough evidence against him for a conviction.

Anne Arundel County Circuit Judge William C. Mulford II sentenced Johnson to five years, with all but 18 months suspended, and three years of supervised probation.

The judge recommended work release for the remainder of the sentence, for which he will be credited with time served. Johnson has been held in lieu of $35,000 bail since his arrest last year.
