Workshops set for caregivers

The Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities is offering a series of three caregiver workshops at area senior centers.

Mary Fridley, a nurse and elder care expert with the county, will lead the three National Family Caregiver Support programs: "Is There Help Out There? Resources and Services," "Elder Speak: When a Loved One Won't Listen" and "I'm Not Waving, I'm Drowning: Emotions and Coping Skills."

Workshop details:

Pasadena Senior Center, 4103 Mountain Road: 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. May 14, 21 and 28.

Brooklyn Park center lists events

Brooklyn Park Senior Center, 202 Hammonds Lane, Brooklyn Park, will hold the following events in May:

A word search challenge will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow.

Pascal Go-Getter will perform the "Western Roundup" from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday.

Volunteers are being sought for Garden Clean-up Day being held from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Nurse Julia DiRado will be available for blood pressure and glucose monitoring for diabetics from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. May 7 and from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. May 15.

A Mother's Day breakfast will be held at 11 a.m. May 8. Lorna Sampson will provide entertainment. Registration is required. Information: 410-222-6847

Pascal center lists activities in May

Pascal Senior Center, 125 Dorsey Road, Glen Burnie, will hold events including:

Computer workshops, from 9:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. each Wednesday. The cost is $5 and registration is required.

The center will exhibit the works of Richard Maxwell in the Greenhouse through the month of May. There will be an artist reception at noon Friday. All are welcome.

Helen Sank will lead a sing-along at 12:30 p.m. Friday.

Joanne Dewilde will offer a belly-dancing workshop at 12:30 p.m. Friday. The workshop is designed to promote flexibility and exercise.

Certified massage therapist Bonnie Pavlak and Sue Shorter will offer massages of the head, foot, back and neck from 9 a.m. to noon May 8 and by appointment only, each Wednesday.

There will be a Cinco De Mayo dance with music provided DJ Rod Clark, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday. Information: 410-222-6680 or www.aacounty.org/aging
