Sen. Hillary Clinton this week said she agreed with Republican Sen. John McCain's proposal for a summer gas tax "holiday." Her rival in the Democratic presidential race, Sen. Barack Obama, disparaged the idea.
"My opponent, Senator Obama, opposes giving consumers a break from the gas tax. I understand the American people need some relief. ... If we suspended it and made up the lost revenues [with a windfall profits tax], that's the best of both worlds."
