Rays update

Tampa Bay beat Boston, 3-0, on Sunday behind James Shields' first career shutout, winning its sixth straight game and completing its first three-game sweep of the Red Sox. The Rays' 14-11 record is their best in club history after 25 games. Tampa Bay is three games over .500 for the first time since it started 3-0 in 2002. The Rays have a 2.09 ERA during their winning streak, and opponents are hitting .186. Closer Troy Percival is 5-for-5 in save chances and has solidified a bullpen that has a 2.26 ERA, the best in the majors. Last year, the Rays had the worst bullpen in the league. Rookie third baseman Evan Longoria is hitting .271 with three homers and 10 RBIs. The Rays are 3-2 against the Orioles this season and have beaten them in eight of their past 11 meetings.
