Duplicate bridge is available from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesdays and 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Fridays. Mah-jongg is played at the center from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesdays. Free.

A community service group meets to knit and crochet blankets, baby clothes and other items for charities, hospitals and senior centers from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at Kiwanis Wallas center. Chess -- The county library's Elkridge branch, 6540 Washington Blvd., sponsors a chess club for ages 13 and older from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays. Players of all abilities are welcome, but they must know how to play chess. Snacks will be provided. Registration not required. 410-313-5077.

Learning English -- The county library's Miller branch library offers an English conversation club from 7:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Wednesdays for people who speak English as a second language and would like to practice conversation in a group setting. Dig archaeology -- Students in fourth,-fifth-and-sixth grades are invited to participate in an archaeology dig at the Patapsco Female Institute Historic Park from 8:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
